WITNESS TESTIMONY REQUEST FOR ROBBERY AT PALESTINIAN OWNED SHOP ON WILMSLOW ROAD, RUSHOLME, MONDAY 1ST SEPTEMBER 2014

Cashoppers, a jewellery shop in Rusholme, Wilmslow Road, is believed to have been violently raided by four men on Monday around 2 PM.

The store manager, Iyad Odeh, is an active and vibrant member of the local Manchester Palestinian community and has been at the forefront of many charitable campaigns. Hailing from Nablus, In the Occupied Palestine Territory of the West Bank, Mr Odeh has overcome many struggles in order to become financially independent for his and his family’s livelihood. His friends describe him as “an extremely hard working” and “dedicated law abiding citizen”.

Concerning the incident, he is reported to have received bodily harm and losses estimated at £120k. In a statement Mr Odeh recalls “a car pulled up outside the shop and four men got out, they were holding machetes. They entered the shop and jumped over the jewellery counter where I was serving a customer and assaulted me, resulting in severe injuries. Although they were hitting me with a machete, there were no cuts luckily. They then made their way into the back where the jewellery was stored. After they stole a very large quantity of jewellery, the offenders ran out of the shop and got into a black Audi A3 Hatchback and drove off towards Great Western Street, Moss side”.
